Louisville SQL Server and Power BI User Group

Welcome

Welcome!

Welcome to the Louisville SQL Server Users Group! We represent the SQL Server community in Louisville, the surrounding metropolitan area, and throughout most of Kentucky. As a technical users group, we focus on monthly meetings, but also provide networking, learning opportunities, speaking opportunities, training, and collaboration for SQL Server professionals throughout the Ohio Valley area. Our monthly meetings occur on the second Thursday of each month, either at lunchtime in the downtown Louisville area or in the evening outside downtown. This alternating approach to meeting times and locations allows us to support as many of our users as possible and provides different venue and time options for our meetings and our attendees. We also partner with various volunteer groups to bring special events to the area, such as SQL Saturdays. Those events typically draw large crowds of SQL Server professionals from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and beyond!

Data To Impress Those That Sign The Checks - Azure Logic Apps, Social Media, and Sentiment Analysis

Join us on Thursday, February 8th for the next meeting of the Louisville SQL Server and Power BI Users Group! We will meet at the Homecare Homebase facility. Meeting information is as follows:

TopicData To Impress Those That Sign The Checks - Azure Logic Apps, Social Media, and Sentiment Analysis

Description:  The job of a data professional is evolving rapidly, driving many of us to platforms and technologies that were not on our radar screen a few months ago. I am certainly no exception to that trend. Most of us aren't just monitoring backups and tuning queries - we are collaborating with teams throughout the company to provide them data and insights that drive decisions. This presentation walks you through how a silly idea from a soccer podcast got me thinking about how Azure Logic Apps, sentiment analysis, and Azure SQL DB combine to provide potentially powerful insights to any company with a social media and sales presence. Join me as I walk you through building a solution that can impact your company's bottom line - and potentially yours too

Speaker: Matt Gordon

Matt has worked with SQL Server since 2000 and has worked with versions up to and including SQL Server 2017. He is the leader of the Lexington, KY chapter of PASS, a frequent SQL Saturday and user group speaker, and speaker at PASS Summit 2017. He's also been named a 2018 Friend of Redgate and IDERA SQL Superstar. His original data professional role was as a database developer, but that quickly evolved into query tuning work which further evolved into being a full-fledged DBA in the healthcare realm. He has supported critical systems utilizing SQL Server across multiple data centers and managed dozens of 24/7/365 SQL Server implementations. He currently utilizes those years of real world experience as a national Microsoft data platform consultant helping clients design deployment solutions that meet their ever-changing business needs.
